Key Club

Founded on December 12, 1949, the Steubenville High School Key Club has a long-standing tradition of leadership, service, and community involvement. Originally established as an all-male community service organization sponsored by the Steubenville Kiwanis Club, the club has grown into an inclusive organization open to all students.

Since 2004, Key Club has welcomed both male and female members who continue the tradition of serving others through school and community projects. Students develop leadership skills through annual officer elections, weekly meetings, service opportunities, and involvement in local events.

Key Club members support organizations throughout the community, including The Salvation Army, Teramana Cancer Center, Franciscan University, veterans’ groups, and the City of Steubenville. The club also sponsors annual events such as Honor America, Sadie Hawkins, and the Sweetheart Dance, while assisting with school activities, dinners, and assemblies.

Through service, teamwork, and leadership, the Steubenville High School Key Club continues to make a positive impact on the school and community.

Y-Teens

The Steubenville High School Y-Teens program empowers students through leadership development, community service, and mentoring opportunities. Members gain valuable skills while making a positive impact both within the school and throughout the community.

Students participate in meaningful experiences including community service projects, peer-to-peer mentoring, job shadowing, and intergenerational activities. Through these opportunities, members build confidence, strengthen leadership skills, and develop connections with others.

Y-Teens also provides workshops focused on important life skills and future planning, including:

  • Stress and time management
  • Healthy living and wellness
  • Building healthy relationships
  • College preparation
  • Career exploration and job search skills

By combining service, leadership, and personal growth, Y-Teens helps students become engaged leaders who contribute to their school and community.

Nike Club 

NIKE empowers female students to develop leadership skills, build confidence, and prepare for future opportunities. Members conduct meetings, make decisions, and represent themselves and their communities while gaining valuable experience in communication, teamwork, and leadership.

Through mentorship and hands-on experiences, NIKE helps students strengthen oral and written communication skills, learn professional networking, and explore opportunities available after graduation. Throughout the year, members participate in workshops focused on:

  • Budgeting and financial skills
  • Professionalism and workplace readiness
  • College planning and applications
  • Career exploration
  • Resume writing and job preparation

A major annual event for NIKE is the American Red Cross Blood Drive. Each year, students work together to support this important community service project and help meet the goal of saving lives through blood donations.

NIKE provides students with the tools, experiences, and confidence to become successful leaders in their school, community, and future careers.

Beta Club

The National Beta Club is dedicated to promoting academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among secondary school students.

Through involvement in school and community activities, Beta Club members have opportunities to develop leadership skills, serve others, and recognize the importance of responsibility and excellence. The organization encourages students to achieve their highest potential while making a positive impact in their school and community.

 Interact Club

Interact is Rotary International's service club for High School Students ages 14 - 18. Sponsored by the Steubenville Rotary Club, Big Red Interact offers students the chance to make new friends, improve their community (community service), and develop leadership skills. Additional to volunteer work within the community, the Big Red Interact Club must carry out two fundraisers each year: one that helps the school or community and one that promotes international understanding.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes 

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is a student-led Christian club at Steubenville High School. Students fellowship together, study bible passages, and do acts of service and encouragement in the school and around the community. The club is open to all faiths and not exclusive to athletes.

SHS National Honor Society 

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Four main purposes have guided chapters of NHS from the beginning: to create enthusiasm for scholarship; to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.
