Big Red Cares

Steubenville High School
Big Red Cares

Big Red Cares is a service-learning initiative that encourages all Steubenville High School students to make a positive impact within our school and throughout the Steubenville community. Through volunteerism, students develop leadership skills, civic responsibility, and a commitment to serving others.

Volunteer Hour Requirement

Each student is required to complete a designated number of volunteer service hours during their high school years. These hours may be earned through school-sponsored activities, community service projects, nonprofit organizations, churches, civic groups, and other approved volunteer opportunities.

Participation by Grade Level

Big Red Cares is a school-wide commitment involving students in grades 9–12. Each grade level participates in service opportunities designed to foster community engagement and personal growth. Students are encouraged to contribute their time and talents to projects that benefit both the school and the greater Steubenville area.

Homeroom Service Projects

Every homeroom participates in volunteer activities throughout the school year. These projects may include school improvement efforts, community outreach programs, donation drives, environmental initiatives, and partnerships with local organizations. By working together, homerooms help strengthen the culture of service that defines Steubenville High School.

Senior Big Red Cares Capstone Presentation

As the culmination of their Big Red Cares experience, seniors complete and present a Big Red Cares Capstone Presentation. This presentation highlights their volunteer experiences, reflects on the lessons learned through service, and demonstrates how their contributions have helped improve the Steubenville community. The Capstone Presentation serves as an opportunity for students to showcase their growth as leaders, citizens, and advocates for positive change.

Through Big Red Cares, Steubenville High School students embrace the tradition of giving back, strengthening our school, supporting our community, and living the values of service and leadership.
